PRODUCT GUIDE

Dear Customer!

In an effort to provide the best possible service and a high level of information on our website, we have developed this product guide. The guide will be expanded continuously, but we have initially focused on our cargo shorts , cargo knickers and cargo trousers .

If you do not find that information or get answers to your questions via this product guide, you are, as always, welcome to contact us using our contact form CLICK HERE.

As a supplement to this product guide, you will find a size guide under each product that describes waist width - length from top to bottom - length from top to below the crotch. Please note that the size guide is indicative, as the thickness of the fabric can have an impact on the size, which you can read more about below.

In this way, we hope to be able to guide you as best as possible on the way to buying your first MOLECULE shorts or trousers and/or help you in fairly simple ways to find out which model you have lying around at home, so that you can buy just that one model in several colors and/or shorter/longer versions.

SIZES

NOTE: Molecule's models vary in size depending on the model, so you will therefore find that you can, for example, be a size M in one model and a size L in another model. Unfortunately, we have no influence on the way Molecule's sizes are built, but if you follow this size guide, it's quite easy.

HOW DO I MEASURE?

The method we have used is to lay the shorts/trousers flat on a table, buttoned and zipped up. So we have measured across the inside of life. We have not affected the fabric - i.e. stretched it in any way and it will therefore be able to give and generally be 3-4 cm larger around the waist than when measured lying flat.

Waist (A): In terms of experience, everyone measures themselves differently around the waist, and not necessarily where one's clothes actually fit. We therefore recommend that you find a pair of your trousers/shorts that fit you perfectly. Make sure they are freshly washed so that the fibers in the cotton have contracted and are like "new". Lay them flat on a table, zipped up and buttoned. Take a ruler, ruler or measuring tape and measure across the waist and note the measurement on the inside of the seam.

Length (B): The length (measurement B) indicates the length from the top of the shorts/trousers to the bottom. We have again laid the product flat on a table and measured on the outside from the top of the trouser waistband to the bottom of the pant leg.

Baggy/regular/fit (C) The last measurement gives you an idea of how the fit is. The greater the distance from the waistband to the seam under the crotch, the more baggy the model is. The smaller the distance, the more fit they will sit.

We recommend that you start by watching our measuring guide video here:

CARGO SHORTS, CARGO KNICKERS & CARGO PANTS

IN GENERAL

Our cargo shorts , cargo knickers and cargo pants are of high quality. MOLECULE is known to be virtually impossible to wear out, which of course is true with modification. Because everything can of course wear out and be destroyed by rough use. The "most fragile" points on MOLECULE's shorts and trousers are buttons and zippers, which some mistakenly think can withstand being pulled and ripped without thought.

The fabric itself is incredibly durable, both in the classic heavy cotton and the lighter ripstop (parachute fabric). Durable in the way that it withstands daily use over several years. Wash after wash and being exposed to wind and weather in all its forms. However, of course with wear and tear as a result, such as color fading.

The fabric can vary in thickness and softness depending on the color. As a starting point, the fabric becomes thicker the more color nuances (weaves) that are included. In other words, the camouflage models are often thicker and less flexible in the fabric in contrast to the solid-coloured models, which, however, can also vary.

This also means that the waist size can vary slightly, as the thicker fabric not only goes "outwards" but also inwards and can cut a few cm off the waist. We therefore always recommend that you buy shorts that are just a few cm too big in the waist, as they are adjustable in the waist with strings and can vary by a few cm. So we advise against buying your shorts so that they are spot on in the measurement chart. Read more about sizes and guide below.

The fabric is of high quality and is something that MOLECULE is known for. However, it is not a miracle material that can withstand outright violence. But if you take care of your MOLECULE, it is not unlikely that you will have them for 10+ years.

Of course, it cannot withstand being pulled and torn or hitting a sharp edge or being stretched too much, for example as a result of a movement to the extremes of the wearer.

All MOLECULE's shorts and trousers can be washed at up to 60 degrees, which says something about a high-quality product that withstands hard use again and again.

DO THEY SHRINK?

Molecule's trousers and shorts can handle 60 degree washing and have been washed at even higher temperatures in connection with production using a very special washing method. It is precisely this last wash before the product is finished packing that gives them their very special dusty colour. They are therefore "pre-shrunk" and therefore do not shrink in the wash. On the other hand, you will find that they give several cm during use and then shrink back to their original size when you wash them.

MODEL GUIDE

We know it can be incredibly confusing with many different models, numbers and names.

Fortunately, MOLECULE's models are built quite simply, which hopefully makes it easier for you as a customer to choose the right model or expand your collection with a shorter or longer version of your favorite model.

MOLECULE basically builds up their models in series, which are most easily recognizable by looking at the beginning of the item number that is associated with the product name.

So if, for example, we start from the model:

MOLECULE CARGO SHORTS – ORIGINALS 45020 – OLIVE

Then the number 45020 reveals that the model is part of the model that we call the 45 series. In other words, you can read the model line by looking at the first 2 digits of the five-digit product number – in this case 45.
In the same series there is a ¾ longer shorts model also called knickers under the model number 45056 Drawn Togethers and in the same model line as trousers under the number 45019 Comfy Combats.

Similarly, there are the model lines:

50 series: 50005 Ankle busters (pants) – 50006 Kickflips (3/4 knickers) – 50007 Cruisers (shorts)

54 series: 54001 Cyclones (shorts) – 54002 Board Pants (trousers)

55 series (Ripstop) : 55001 Dual Feathers (short) – 55002 Featherweights (short) – 55003 Outdoor (pants)

You can read about how you can find the differences between the different model series and find the model that suits you best below.

45 SERIES (45020 ORIGINALS SHORTS – 45056 DRAWN TOGETHERS KNICKERS – 45019 COMFY COMBATS PANTS)

The 45 SERIES and especially the 45056 model Drawn Togethers is the most well-known MOLECULE model with some special characteristics that allow you to recognize them from a long distance. We have listed the characteristics here:

ZIPPER

Unlike the 50 series and 55 series, which have metal zippers, this model has high quality plastic zippers made of olive green plastic. The fabric cord attached to the zipper is usually a piece approx. 1 cm wide and 6 cm long olive green fabric

BUTTONS

The 45 series has push buttons, where the other series have regular buttons. In addition, the most striking characteristic of the model can be found precisely around the press buttons on the thigh pocket. Regardless of the color of the shorts/trousers, the model ALWAYS has olive green nylon reinforcements around the snap buttons on the large thigh pockets. You can therefore quickly recognize whether it is a 45 model you have at home that way. In addition, this model has a riveted button at the waist. So a button that is NOT sewn on but printed together front and back.

POCKETS

The 45 series has a "flap" over the front pocket with a snap button. The front pocket is also "straight" and not slanted like the other models. The front pocket is the one you want to put your hands in during normal use. On both the 50 series and the 55 series, this is slanted and without a "flap" and thus easy to stick your hands in. On the 54 series, there is also a "flap" across and with a press button. However, the pocket is still slanted and not straight like on the 45019 model.

SHORTS/KNICKERS?

It can be almost impossible to see the difference between 45020 Originals (shorts) and 45056 Drawn Togethers (knickers) and the difference is also only approx. 10 cm in length. However, it is easy to tell the difference because 45020 Originals have snaps in the pant legs and 45056 Drawn Togethers have drawstrings in the pant legs.

FABRIC

The 45 series is made in MOLECULE's well-known brushed cotton, in a durable and "heavier" material than the 55 series, which is made in ripstop (parachute fabric).

50 SERIES (50007 CRUISERS SHORTS – 50006 KICKFLIPS KNICKERS – 50005 ANKLE BUSTERS PANTS)

The 50 SERIES is, together with the 45 series, the most popular model. They are also very similar in terms of fit and baggy design, although with some significant differences that make them easy to tell apart. Overall, the 50 model is more "monochromatic" in contrast to the 45 series, which often has some significant olive green reinforcements and cords in the zipper, regardless of the product color.

ZIPPER

The 50 series has metal zips with an approx. 1.5 cm wide flat fabric cord included. The fabric cord has a characteristic red thread down the middle.

BUTTONS

Unlike the 45 series, the 50 series does not have press studs, but rather sewn-on buttons both at the waist and in thigh pockets and back pockets. On the thigh pockets, the buttons are also "hidden" and sit on the inside of the "flap" above the pocket, where they are very characteristic and external to the 45 series.

POCKETS

The 50 series has slanted front pockets and is thus easy to put your hands in. The model also has a small coin pocket on the right side just below the waistband.

SHORTS / KNICKERS ?

It can be next to impossible to see the difference between 50007 Cruisers (shorts) and 50006 Kickflips (knickers) and the difference is also only approx. 10 cm in length. However, it is easy to tell the difference because 50007 Cruisers have press studs in the pant legs and 50006 Kickflips have drawstrings in the pant legs.

FABRIC

The 50 series is made in MOLECULE's well-known brushed cotton, in a durable and "heavier" material than the 55 series, which is made in ripstop (parachute fabric).

54 SERIES and 50008 (54001 CYCLONES SHORTS – 54002 BOARD PANTS - 50008 STITCHED COMBATS PANTS)

The 54 SERIES is not as well known as the 45/50 series and is produced in fewer numbers and in fewer colors. They are also not designed in a ¾ knickers model like the other two series. The model also differs by being tighter fit, unlike the others, which are more baggy.

In addition, the model has some differences from shorts to trousers, where the other series basically have the same characteristics throughout.

50008 is its own and the reason we have included it here is that 54001 Cyclones is actually the short version of 50008 Stiched Combats.

ZIPPER

54002 Board Pants have a metal zipper with an approx. 1 cm wide flat fabric cord inserted. From brand new, the fabric cord usually has a knot and is longer than on the other models.

On 54001 and 50008, the zipper is also metal, but with the less classic fabric cord.

BUTTONS

As the only model, the 54 series does not have metal buttons, but neutral plastic buttons that match the color of the product. The plastic button also does not have MOLECULE printed on it like the metal buttons on the other models. On the 54002 trousers, there are buttons all around the waist and there is also the possibility to adjust the waist width via metal buckles on each side of the waist.
The model is also characterized by having internal plastic buttons on the thigh pockets but press buttons on the back pockets and front pockets (only on trousers, however)

POCKETS

The 54002 trousers have slanted front pockets with a "flap" across with press studs. The back pockets have snaps and the thigh pockets have internal plastic buttons. As one of the only models, this model does not have zipped pockets above the thigh pockets.

FABRIC

The 54 series is made in MOLECULE's well-known brushed cotton, in a durable and "heavier" material than the 55 series, which is made in ripstop (parachute fabric).

The 54002 Board Pants are designed as a vintage model and are already worn in the cotton mold around the pockets and waistband, so they look like your favorite pants after 100 washes.

SIZE

The 54 series is generally one size smaller than the classic 45 series and 50 series. So if you normally buy some of these series, it is recommended that you choose a size LARGER than you otherwise have on the shelf.

55 SERIES (55001 DUAL FEATHER SHORTS – 55002 FEATHERWEIGHTS SHORTS – 55003 OUTDOOR LIGHTWEIGHTS PANTS)

The 55 SERIES is one of MOLECULE's newer models in 2015. Designed with inspiration from some of the other models and without the characteristic continuous line.
The two models 55002 and 55003 are designed with inspiration from 54001 and 54002/50008.
The 55001 model is basically the same model as the 50007 Cruisers, only in ripstop (parachute fabric).

ZIPPER

55001 has, like 50007, an approx. 1.5 cm wide zipper with a red thread in the middle, while 55002 and 55003 have the characteristic 1x6 cm plain fabric cord as zipper.
As the only model in ripstop, 55001 has a zipped pocket above the thigh pocket, which differs noticeably from the 55002 model.

BUTTONS

The 55 series has sewn-on buttons both at the waist and in thigh pockets and back pockets. On the thigh pockets, the buttons are also "hidden" and sit inside the "flap" above the pocket.

POCKETS

55001 Dual feather, like the 50007 Cruiser model, has zipped pockets above the thigh pocket, which 55002 and 55003 do not. They all have slanted front pockets. The back pockets and thigh pockets have inside sewn-on metal buttons with an engraved MOLECULE logo.

SHORTS / KNICKERS?

Although there are 2 shorts models in the series, both are "short" and MOLECULE has not yet developed a ¾ model in ripstop (parachute fabric). When they do, you can be absolutely sure that we will be the first to have them ready for you.

FABRIC

The 55 series is made of ripstop (parachute fabric) which can be easily recognized by walking very close to the fabric, whereby you can see that it is made in tiny squares. The fabric is well known from the outdoor environment and brands such as Fjällräven, 5.11 and Carhartt.

SIZE

The 54 series is generally one size smaller than the classic 45 series and 50 series. So if you normally buy some of these series, it is recommended that you choose a size LARGER than you otherwise have on the shelf.

62 SERIES (62009 SHORTCUTS SHORTS - 62005 HEAVY OUTDOORS PANTS)

The 62 SERIES is MOLECULE's newest model produced in 2019. The models are largely the same as the ripstop (parachute fabric) models produced in 2015 under the 55 series model line, which are described just above.

MOLECULE has made this model as a limited edition and it is therefore unknown whether it will be reproduced or whether it will become a collector's item for Molecule fans.

62009 is also a unique model because it is the only shorts that are NOT designed to cover the knee and is therefore the absolute shortest model MOLECULE has produced. They also have the possibility of adjustment outside the waistband, which is otherwise only known from the model 54002 Board Pants.

ZIPPER

The 62 series has metal zips with the classic fabric cord measuring approx. 1 x 4 cm.

BUTTONS

62005 has sewn-on buttons both at the waist and in thigh pockets and back pockets. On the thigh pockets, the buttons are also "hidden" and sit inside the "flap" above the pocket.

62009 has press button pocket on the thigh, but only on one side of the pocket and sewn on the other. Super cool little new details that make them a must for every MOLECULE fan.

POCKETS

The 62 series has slanted front pockets as well as the classic thigh pockets.

SHORTS / KNICKERS?

The model series only consists of trousers and shorts.

FABRIC

The 62 series is made in MOLECULE's well-known brushed cotton, in a durable and "heavier" material than the 55 series, which is made in ripstop (parachute fabric). They have therefore been named Heavy Outdoors, as they are made of heavy duty cotton, unlike their founders' 55 series.

SIZE

The 62 series is generally one size smaller than the classic 45 series and 50 series. So if you normally buy some of these series, it is recommended that you choose a size LARGER than you otherwise have on the shelf.
